Aquadeck Pool Cover > Why cover?-

1. EVAPORATION
The first problem is evaporation. You can compare this to a bowl of soup. If the soup is too hot, you blow across it to increase evaporation, which cools your soup. This is simple physics. To put it simply, we can say: "evaporation results in cooling." You want to prevent cooling of the water in your pool, so you have to take measures to prevent evaporation. You could achieve this by covering the water surface with a very simple film (such as industrial plastic sheeting). This prevents evaporation and therefore cooling. This is your first improvement.

2. HEAT TRANSFER
The second problem is heat transfer. The warm pool water is in contact with the cooler outdoor air, resulting in a loss of temperature. Covering the water with the film prevents evaporation, but there is still a thermal bridge between the water and air because this film is generally no thicker than 0.3 mm.
Through the use of PVC or Polycarbonate slats encompassing sealed air-filled chambers, you eliminate both problems. This creates a 1.4 cm thick layer of air on the surface of your swimming pool water that prevents cold air or wind from drawing heat energy out of the water.

So, you see, it is important to insulate the warm pool water. Compare it to insulation of a home with single glazing (film) or double glazing (slats).

3. WHY SLATS?

A slat cover has various advantages over other systems on the market, such as bubble film or foam blankets.

These include:
• Greater insulating value
• Qualitatively far better
• Longer service life
• Fully automatic operation
• High-quality drive system
• Extremely safe covering of your pool
• Reduces chemical consumption
• Solar heater version also available

This is just a selection of the many advantages of a slat roller cover.
